This weekend I attended a bead show in Charlotte NC and while in the city I decided to stop by IKEA and check out the organizing section. I found these terrific hanging ceramic jars that look great in my studio corner. Take a look…
The tray came from IKEA also, I love the bright colors! The little magnet board is Jonathan Adler and I found it at TJ Maxx recently. This is a preview of the new piano room, it is still not completely finished but the painting is done and the furniture is assembled and now I just need to arrange the rest of the room and I will post pictures. Meanwhile here is another picture of my new happy place…
After looking at about a bazillion craft desks, I ended up choosing Martha Stewart’s line of crafting furniture sold through Home Decorators Collection. I figure she knows what she is doing when it comes to designing furniture with crafters in mind. To my delight the shipment of the 36″ tall desk in Sharkey Gray and the Flat File cabinet arrived in only a couple of days. I knew I would be required to assemble the pieces but I had no idea how time consuming it would be! The desk took about three hours and I did that one first. It was absolutely gorgeous and my hard work was rewarded with this handsome desk!
I also bought this Flat File Cabinet from the same line and it took me about 9 hours to assemble, I didn’t heed the recommendation on the instructions to use two people to assemble it. I know why they say that…it was heavy and there were sixteen drawer sliders to attach to the eight drawers and over 200 screws. I got a blister from the screwdriver ( OUCH!) but it was also a great piece once finished.

Starting to think about the arrangement of the room. Decided to get rid of old sofa and put in a desk for my crafting and jewelry making.

My husband starting the painting process. The Sherwin-Williams paint is covering the red very well, we were surprised by that and in the end it only took two coats!
I’ve decided to update my “Piano Room” and make an out of the way corner into my studio. The color has been candy apple red for about 14 years now and it is high time to make a change. The color choice is agonizing but I finally settled on Sea Salt from Sherwin-Williams. Here is a before photo…
I love to create! Problem is, I have way too much I want to do and not nearly enough time to do it. With this blog I hope to explore the many interests I have and provide others with valuable information that I learn along the way. I know there will be many mistakes and learning curves but that is part of what makes life interesting. It is always fun for me to try new things and sometimes actually doing something makes me realize that its either not for me or something I will enjoy doing for a long time. I can’t wait to start this journey into the blogging world if for no other reason than to share my passions with whoever cares to walk the creative path with me!
