PlayStation Setup

Just wanted to share a photo of the ingenious setup that my brother-in-law, Travis, created in his garage. He used wall hooks that he bought at Walmart to make a shelf for his PlayStation games and cut pieces of wood to mount the PlayStation to the wall. Isn’t is awesome?

He also framed in the opening to the double car garage and installed two sets of French Doors. On the inside he then covered the studs with rough cut boards after insulating the wall. It’s quite comfortable in there and we have really enjoyed the new space, especially movie night.

Pink Flamingo Dresser

I have have this old dresser for a while and I just couldn’t decide on a color. I finally chose pink and now it looks fabulous. Here she is…

Now, to sell or not to sell?? Always the question.

Cleaning Out for the New Year

When I started this journey of having my own antiques booth I really got in way over my head. Before I knew it, I had become a full-fledged, card-carrying member of the hoarding community. It is embarrassing to think back and realize what I put myself and my poor family  through.

Auction Items

My garage was packed with furniture, tools, dirt, ancient rat poop, and it smelled like a thrift store. When the garage was full I started filling up the basement with my “finds” from my daily trips to the thrift stores. I was obsessed with shopping for junk to sell. I don’t remember much except that I was in serious denial. So, slowly, over the past year, I have rented two large storage units and have begun to clear my house. Tomorrow I am loading up a truck and taking one whole 20 X 20 storage unit contents to be auctioned off. I am hurting inside to sell it all but I am also overjoyed at the prospect of ridding my life of all that STUFF. it’s a big step and I am excited. I still have a long way to go but it’s happening! Being a junk obsessed crazy person is no way to live, it eats at my insides and I constantly feel guilt and then I buy more and pile on to it with more guilt. It’s way more involved than what I am writing here, I encourage those of you who recognize this behavior in yourself to take a step to start getting a grip on your hoarding tendencies and please say a prayer for me, I need all the help I can get!

Treasures On Main

The booth at Treasures on Main in Lincolnton, NC is now free of Christmas decor and filled up with new finds. It’s amazing how a tiny booth can take so long to redecorate! It’s so fun though and I love every minute of it.
Some photos of the new arrangement…

Antique Kitchen Cupboard

I’ve been working on making a room in my basement into a craft room and I want it to have a vintage vibe. I found this cupboard yesterday and decided it would be great for craft storage.

It was very dirty and the paint was falling off quite a bit but I brought it home and cleaned it up. I really like the way it looks just like it is. While cleaning it I noticed someone had coated the original finish with a glaze. I’m not fond of that so I may paint over it in the future but I’m happy about how it looks in my craft room.
Just playing around with how I will decorate it…

Wrought Iron Door

I was notified today that I have won a vintage wrought iron storm door in a silent auction! I am thrilled because I really thought my bid was too low.

Take a look at this beauty…

Can’t decide if I want to install it on my front door or on my screen porch or just use it for decoration in my house somewhere.
This is my current screen door (please ignore the mess)…

I’ll post later photos when I decide what I want to do with it, so happy!

My 100th Post!

Noticed that this will be my 100th post, so exciting! Well not really, but it’s a pretty cool milestone at the very least.

I’ve been working on so many projects lately but I want to share one that I’m struggling with. This huge buffet/dresser has been a bit time consuming .

Now that most of the prep work is done and she is ready to paint I’m frozen with indecision on the color. I want to put it in my own house because all of the hard work has caused some attachment. I’m thinking gray or some shade of blue or even yellow.

I took the base and legs off and added new feet, it makes it look less formal than it did before, the finish was just awful and chipping off and half the veneer on the top was gone so I had to take the rest off. That was not easy, my friend Alice stopped by and helped. Without her I may have given up. The huge square “knobs” are fantastic and I’m going to keep these. They are very unique and add tons of character. I can’t wait to finally decide on a color and get her home!

Yellow Painted Dresser

My sister Susie painted this beautiful dresser for her booth, just wanted to share!

Pink and Purple Desk

Painted this beautiful desk for a friend’s daughter…

It started out as really beat up and had two broken legs. The legs have me fits getting them repaired but after the third try I finally got them on sturdy enough to work. I added the glass knobs because several original knobs were missing.

Upholstered Cane Back Chairs

Painted these chairs with Bay Sands by Valspar. Then I upholstered them with this pretty fabric. Fairly easy upgrade that took about 2-3 hours to complete.
